When I am asked where I am from, it is hard for me to answer. Here is why:
I was born on April 10, 1972 in Vilnius, Lithuania, although before it became an independent country.
I spent most wonderful years of my highschool in St. Petersburg, Russia.
I did my bachelor degree in Hebrew University, Jerusalem, Israel.
I did my Ph.D. in Computer Science in University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
I did a two-year postdoc at the Department of Computer Science at the University of New Mexico in Albuquerque.
I then did a one-year postdoc at DIMACS in Pscataway, NJ. Sorry, there are no nice pictures of New Jersey.
I am now an Assistant Professor at the Department of Computer Science at the University of Illinois in Chicago.
